Cori and Ryan, I have this feeling, are a whilrwind of a couple. They signed their contract at noon on Thanksgiving Eve and we had their portrait session the same day 3 hours later. Wow what a fun day that was. The Fort Wayne botanical gardens were lovely and the lights of dusk really made for interesting colors in their pictures. We really had a great time. We even got to see Santa after we were done as he made an appearance at the Garden s that evening with two reindeer. I am very excited about Cori and Ryan's wedding in July. You can view their Engagement Session Slideshow and here are a few of my favorites.

The Mix Family
I had the opportunity to take portraits of the Mix family recently on a really rainy day. So we stuck to studio backgrounds. I really missed working outside but I think we got some really great ones for them before the baby comes to join the family in February. Here are a few of my favorites.
This last one in my attempt at a Jessica Strickland Style Picture. I think it turned out pretty good.

Kristi and Travis October 20, 2007
It has been such a joy working with Kristi and Travis. They are such a beautiful couple they are just a joy to photograph. Kristi worked so hard designing her own flowers and decorations. I am just starting their album predesign and am having a hard time choosing what pictures to use. They took such beautiful pictures it makes it difficult. Here is their 8x10 preview along with a few extra pictures from the day I couldn't squeeze on to the 8x10.

Beowolf-Excellent Animation-Not a kid friendly movie
Friday Hubby took me to see Beowulf in 3D at the IMAX theater in Indianapolis. What an experience. It was beautifully animated and stayed very true to the poem. BUT, I have no idea how this movie received a PG-13 rating. I realized that it is animated but Angelina Jolie's animation was too real for comfort. Some poor junior high teacher brought at least 30 boys and girls to the movie and as Beowulf removes his clothing for the first battle you could hear all of the girls giggle. Then when you see Mother for the first time they tilt from head to toe and you hear an intake of breath as you pass private parts covered by the gold and then cat calls and jeers and laughing from the kids. It really should have been rated R. It really is too much for younger kids. It was well done but it is not a pixar film that is candy coated. The protagonist is not inherently good and the antagonistic is not inherently bad. It was very well done from a story stand point but again I say it is not for children.
Excellent Movie that I hope receives an oscar. It deserves it, and an R rating.

My favorite kids (excluding my own)
Lizzie and Russell are one of my favorite clients. I have been taking their pictures since Russell was 3 days old. They are getting pictures bi yearly now but it is always fun. Lizzie is a very busy little girl and we had a hard time just getting her to look at the camera this time but I think we got some good ones. Here are some of my favorites.
I also got some great pictures of Russell with his Dad. I snapped this just on a whim and the more I paint it the better I like it. I love the emotion even without showing faces.

Meet my next 08 senior--Cruz
I had the pleasure of working with Cruz this fall. He was a really great kid and his Mom was a really nice lady too. We really had a good time taking pictures. Here are a few of my favorites from Cruz's session.
I edited a few pictures ala alittledarkershadesofbrown I don't think mine are nearly as cool as his but I thought I would give it a try. The second one has a paint tecnique on it too. I thought is looked too clean for the color style so I grunged it up a bit. Visit his site. He is a wonderful photographic artist. Just be warned he likes to put music on his blog.
