I knew it was going to happen.....
but that dosn't make it any less of a crime. We have lived at our home since the summer of 2000. I have a nice open front porch. I have attemped to decorate it every year with natural elements. Indian corn, gourds, and pumpkins. Out of the 8 years we lived here 6 out of those 8 somone walked into our yard, up onto our front porch and taken our pumpkins and smashed them in the middle of the street. This year I got the cheapest pumpkins I could get so I could have something to put up. Last night after 1am (when I went to bed) someone didn't smash our pumpkins they just stole them! Took them right off my property. I am so tired of this. I just want a pretty front porch through Thanksgiving. After the smashing spree of 2006 where more half the towns pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns were smashed no one put out pumpkins. I was not going to let them get me. I got the cheap ones. What I want are cement pumpkins that I can paint or that are painted. I want they to just TRY to smash those! If you know where I can get cement pumpkins I would appriciate the info.
These are pictures of last years pumpkins that were destroyed.

That is horrible! You know what you can do? Pray for those who have done this. :O) Pray that God Bless them (however He sees fit to bless them). I would also say a prayer covering over your property and all those who enter upon it know there is something different about it! ;O)

I remember your post from last year... I cant believe they did half the town... I wouldnt want to pay the shipping for the cement ones... Probably piss them off and throw it through awindow or something anyways... Next year put one of those deer hunting cameras that takes Infra read shots shots with any movement... Then have them posted in the paper... Have a happy halloween any ways...
I think I'd be afraid someone would smash something with them and cause more damage. Its terrible that kids are o wreckless and have no respeck for someones property. I like the ideads of the two post before me. Great ideas!
My Wednesday morning bible study and I already prayed for them that morning. Hubby (who is a computer programmer) and his Aerospace engineer brother are already plotting for next year. Cameras and paintballs and capsasan liquid on the surface of the pumpkin (made out of hot pepper juice) are all things they are thinking about next year. I will believe it when I see it. I am going to get the camera next year though.
How about hooking up a pumpkin to a bucket ready to dump wet paint / slop / you name it on the vandals' heads?
I would love to booby trap my pumpkins next year but it is illeagal. I we are discussing video plans for next year and our set up. I am hoping to get some replacement pumpkins today when I go get apples for apple butter.
