The House on the Rock
I was recently drafted by a friend of mine, to do some work on her PBS style documentary. She is telling the story of the Myers family. about 7 years ago they purchased a neighborhood revitalization home in the middle of a run down neighborhood. Let’s just say they are also the racial minority. One of their goals by moving into this neighborhood was to be a safe haven for the neighborhood children and teens. Give them a home to go to when their families were not there. They have had hundreds of children come into their home over the last few years until recently. The Myers family noticed there was something seriously wrong with their new house. It was falling in on itself. When the Not for Profit organization that built the house laid the foundation they didn’t dig and pour footers. They put the concrete block right on top of the soft sand. The organization is now defunct and there is no legal recourse to fix their home. Local churches and local government officals have not been in the dark to what the Myers family have been doing. With the help of my church and the city’s neighborhood revitalization project the Myers are going to be forgiven their mortgage or have part of it paid for them, their house will be salvaged (as much as possible) and them demolished. Then a new home built for them on their existing property. Bringing them back to the neighborhood that they love and that loves them. My friend Andrea is producing the documentary to show how and why this is important to the neighborhood and the city and to the kingdom of God.
I just started taking pictures of the outside of the house Monday. I will get in the house next week before they start to salvage. Here are my favorite pictures.
Also this is one of my first projects using Adobe Lightroom. WOW do I love this software.

what an awesome gift that couple is giving the neighborhood. this just shows how God works by forgiving the mortgage and helping them to rebuild. maybe the new home will be intentionally improved to suit the needs of their mission. nice shots of the project to date!
these are cool
